Welcome!
Blue Grass Baptist School has been
educating hearts and minds in Lexington, KY since 1969.
Started as a Kindergarten
program in a local Baptist church, Blue Grass Baptist School
has grown to a K-12th grade school.
We know that once you look
into what we have to offer, you will easily see what an
awesome work that God is doing in this place.
Our Christian based
educational program strives to make our school a place where
Jesus Christ lives in the hearts and minds of those who
teach and those who learn. We focus on bringing the home,
church, and school into a partnership for the purpose of
training the next generation.
Our small student-teacher ratio in the
regular classroom setting allows our teachers the luxury of
addressing each child’s needs daily. Additionally,
enrichment activities are provided through such programs as
4-H club, National Junior Honor Society, National Honor
Society for Secondary Schools, BETA club,
D.A.R.E., Pep
Club, Student Council, and Journalism.
We have a
dynamic athletics program for both elementary and high
school students.

Vision
Statement:
Our vision is to provide an excellent
Christian Education, uniting home, church and school in
Jesus Christ through Kingdom Education so that the
generations to come will know the Truth of God’s Word and
not forget His works, nor be taken captive by the vain
philosophies of their day.
Psalms
78:1-7, Colossians 2:8
Elementary:
BGBS elementary students (K-6th
grade) are offered a strong academic program with a fun and
exciting learning environment. Our curriculum includes a
variety of subjects including a strong phonetic reading
curriculum, math, handwriting, Bible, reading skills,
science, social studies, physical education, music, art and
other special units. Academic progress is measured in the
spring through the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills
(CTBS). Our goal is to shape the whole child, not just
academically, but in every area of their lives by
challenging them to be all God has created them to be.

Blue Grass Baptist
School is accredited by the Kentucky Department of
Education through the Kentucky
Non-Public School Commission. |
High School:
Many opportunities are given to high
school students seeking academic excellence.
Honors courses are offered
in English,
Bible, and History.
Bible courses and weekly chapel are an integral part
of each student’s schedule. Major academic
disciplines of math, English, science, and
history
are all designed to exceed state graduation requirements. To
enhance a student’s overall experience, volunteer community
service is required and career development courses are offered. Our
commitment to small classes provides the best environment
for learning and growth.
Our desire is to prepare
students not only for college, but for life through a
Biblical worldview.

BGBS and Athletics:

BGBS is a member of the
Kentucky Christian Athletic
Association (KCAA). We
participate in basketball, volleyball,
softball,
baseball,
and cheerleading. Elementary students can participate
in co-ed soccer.
We feel that the true measure of success is demonstrated
through the development of Christian character.
Yes, winning is important,
but glorifying God is the ultimate goal of our athletic
program.
A Message from our Principal:
“All
Things Are Possible”
If you are new to
Blue Grass, welcome
to the Blue Grass family.
As the school year progresses, we are
faced with new challenges ahead of us.
What can we do to get through
these challenges?
First of all, I believe we need
to come together as a school family and pray for our
administration, teachers, students, families, supporters,
and churches.
Another thing we can do is
encourage and complement each other instead of gossiping
about others.
The important thing we need to
do is to model Christ in all our actions, attitudes, and
behaviors.
Our children see and learn by
our actions, attitudes, and behaviors.
God has kept Blue
Grass Baptist School open for forty years.
Yes, we have hit hard times in
the past, and with the economy the way it is now, we will
probably have more hard times before us.
If you read Matthew 19:26, it
says, “With God all things are possible.”
That is what our theme for the
2009-2010 school year, “All Things Are Possible.”
God can help us through the
trials, tribulations, and hardships that we are facing
today, but, are we asking Him to do this.
Are we getting down on our
knees in fervent prayer and asking Him to take care of our
needs, or are we trying to do it by ourselves?
I want to
challenge all of you to give everything you have over to the
Lord.
Spend time together as a family
in prayer and Bible Study.
Pray with your children before
you drop them off at school.
Form a parent prayer group that
meets once a week/month to pray for the needs of the school.
There is so much we can do
together as a school family to get through these trials and
tribulations.
As sinful humans, we cannot do
it, but “With God, all things are possible.”
Sincerely,

Philip Ritchey
